About Us
Dancing Cow Farm is owned and operated by Steve and Karen Getz. Steve and Karen moved to Vermont from Eastern Pennsylvania to dairy farm and raise their family. They have interests in whole foods, organic farming, healthy communities and the relationship between health of the soil, livestock and humans.

History
After a long search the farm was purchased in 2003 with the assistance of the Vermont Land Trust. After rebuilding the basic infrastructure of the farm and finding a grazing herd, milking cows began. Fluid milk was shipped to St. Albans Cooperative and CROPP/Organic Valley. The dairy has won numerous awards for high quality milk. The farm has been under organic management since its purchase. The cheese plant was built, licensed and put into operation in the fall of 2005 with cheese sales beginning in January of 2006. In 2008, Bourree, one of three cheeses made at Dancing Cow Farm took second place at the prestigious American Cheese Society competition in Chicago. In 2009, Menuet, took 3rd place at the American Cheese Society competition in Austin Texas.

Future Goals
In 2009 Steve and Karen plan to increase the the milking herd from 20 to 30 plus cows in order to meet the growing demand for the cheese. As always, Karen will be experimenting with a new cheese. Part of Steve's farm plan is to establish and maintain perimeter trails around the entire farm so that visitors can enjoy the breath taking beauty of the Champlain Valley and observe the many wildlife living on the farm including, fox, hawks, deer, coyote, bobolinks, and kill deer. As the cheese business matures Steve and Karen would like to diversify with additional farmstead food products.
